Drying

Adopting energy-efficient drying technology, it enables continuous and automated production, ensuring excellent batch-to-batch consistency. It efficiently handles a wide variety of complex materials, including high-moisture, highly sticky, and heat-sensitive types, while providing precise control over powder moisture content and morphology.

Drymeister DMR-H

The DMR Flash Dryer by Hosokawa Micron is a compact, continuous drying system that combines drying, milling and classifying in a single, energy-efficient unit.

Principle of Operation

In the DMR flash dryer, the wet product is fed via customised feeding systems into the milling and drying zone. Inside, a high-speed grinding rotor efficiently disperses and reduces the material to fine particles.

A temperature-controlled stream of hot air (or optionally inert gas) – heated up to 650°C flows through the dryer while the system is kept under negative pressure. This hot airflow fluidises the particles in the lower section of the dryer, ensuring intense heat transfer and the instant evaporation of moisture.

The dried fine particles are carried upwards with the airstream to the integrated classifier, which separates them based on a defined cut point. Oversized or still-moist particles are returned to the drying zone until they are fully dried. The dried product is then separated from the airstream using a cyclone, filter, or wet scrubber.

Continuous fluidisation minimises product build-up on the chamber wall. Key process parameters – such as rotor speed, outlet temperature, moisture content and final particle size – can be precisely adjusted for optimal drying efficiency, product quality and process control.
