Quartz
Quartz is an indispensable foundational raw material across a wide spectrum of high-growth and precision industries, including advanced ceramics, high-performance glass, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, photovoltaics, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals. In every end-use application, the intrinsic purity, mineral composition, and tailored physical properties of quartz powder directly define the performance, durability, and reliability of the final product. For high-end ceramic formulations, precise particle characteristics drive sintering density, mechanical strength, and surface finish; for ultra-clear photovoltaic glass and pharmaceutical-grade borosilicate glass, controlled fineness ensures homogeneous melting, optimal light transmittance, and superior chemical stability; for semiconductor and electronic applications, ultra-high purity and strict control of oversized particles are non-negotiable to eliminate defects in wafers, encapsulation materials, and high-purity quartz crucibles. To unlock the full functional potential of quartz across these diverse and demanding use cases, achieving targeted fineness, narrow and consistent particle size distribution (PSD), and uncompromised material purity through precision processing is not just a requirement – it is the critical competitive differentiator for manufacturers.
Process
For manufacturers ultra fine particle size distribution quartz powder with a fixed target fineness, we offer our industry-proven AFG series fluidized bed opposed jet mill, a dedicated dry grinding solution engineered to meet the most stringent requirements for high-purity, ultra-fine quartz processing.
At the core of the AFG grinding process is the high-velocity inter-particle comminution principle: filtered, oil-free compressed air is accelerated to supersonic speed through optimized Laval nozzles, creating a high-energy fluidized bed of quartz particles in the grinding chamber. The feed material is driven by the supersonic air stream, where particles collide with each other at ultra-high speed to achieve pulverization. This media-free grinding mechanism eliminates the wear and contamination risks associated with mechanical grinding media, making it inherently suited for the high-hardness, high-purity demands of quartz processing.
Our advanced ball mill systems, such as the S.O.-SF ball mill combined in direct or in double selection with the Alpine Turboplex multi-wheel classifier(ATP), offer a cutting-edge solution for quartz processing. These systems are equipped with wear-resistant components like Al2O3(aluminium oxide) linings and PU (polyurethane), which ensure long service life and low contamination of the end product. Key advantages of our dry grinding technology include:
Unrivaled whiteness retention and purity preservation
Highly efficient, precision-controlled grinding with consistent PSD
Ultra-low contamination risk for high-purity applications
Superior energy efficiency and reduced operating costs
Exceptional process flexibility and scalability
Continuous, reliable operation with minimal maintenance
Our quartz grinding solutions provide the reliability and performance required for high-quality ceramics, pure glass formulations and advanced technical applications
